When accessing the Members’ area from the Welcome! page at http://www.sandiwaygolf.co.uk/%5B/url%5D in both IE6 & Mozilla Firefox the Username & Password prompt dialogue appears & I click OK. The dialogue closes only to reappear very quickly. Clicking OK again gives the required access. This behaviour is experienced by other members as well as myself.

Is there an explanation for this behaviour & if so what can I do to restore a one-click `normal’ behaviour? You have my thanks in anticipation of your help.

What happens if you try the www address? http://www.sandiwaygolf.co.uk/membersarea%5B/url%5D
(Just wondering whether the non-www address redirects to the www address but can’t pass along the credentials.)

Thank you for your response. What happens going direct to the Members’ area? One click and I’m in!

        Please explain:
        >(Just wondering whether the non-www address redirects to the www address but can’t pass along the credentials.) I am unclear as to what is meant by a non-web address.

The link from the home page uses a different host name. The host name is the part between http:// and the next /. If you hover over the link on the home page, you will see that someone left out the usual www. at the beginning.

          Link on home page: http://sandiwaygolf.co.uk[/b]/membersarea
          Link in my post: http://www.sandiwaygolf.co.uk[/b]/membersarea

They are both web addresses, but depending on how the server is configured, the difference can cause issues.

Added: The best solution may be to change the home page link to one that is relative to whatever host the user has started on. This should do it:

          Display Text

The someone you refer to is me! I have rectified the omission of `www’ in the hyperink and all is now AOK. blush

Thank you very much for your perception.
