User-Level Security and Split Databases (2003 (11.5614.5703))

I’m setting up User-Level Security on a front-end / back-end database. The back-end will be on a server. I want to make sure the users have needed access to the linked tables (via queries, forms, and reports which in turn reference the link tables), but I don’t want them to be able to open up the back-end table independent of the front end and monkey directly with the tables. I haven’t done this since the Access 97 days; back then (if memory serves), the only (?) way to do this effectively was to set up front end queries that referenced the linked tables and then use the Run Permissions property of the query set to Owner’s. Is this still the way to go, or is there a better way in Access 2003?

According this article, Types of permissions (MDB), it sounds that not much has changed. Read the last paragraph.

Thanks, Francois. Their description is about how I remembered it. It did remind me, though, that I need to remove all the users’ permissions from the back-end tables.
