    I have recently been experiencing an issue when attempting to connect an iPhone via USB to iTunes using Windows 10 version 1903.

    Apple Technical Support have identified the following nine drivers and assert that only one should be installed and have requested that I ascertain which of these should be retained and which should be discarded. My own feeling is that all should be retained.

    Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Family USB Universal Host Controller – 3B38 PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B38&SUBSYS_50041458&REV_05\3&13C0B0C5&0&EA

    Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Family USB Universal Host Controller – 3B3E PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B3E&SUBSYS_50041458&REV_05\3&13C0B0C5&0&D1

    Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller – 3B34 PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B34&SUBSYS_50061458&REV_05\3&13C0B0C5&0&EF

    Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Family USB Universal Host Controller – 3B3B PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B3B&SUBSYS_50041458&REV_05\3&13C0B0C5&0&D0

    Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Family USB Universal Host Controller – 3B37 PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B37&SUBSYS_50041458&REV_05\3&13C0B0C5&0&E9

    Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Family USB Universal Host Controller – 3B39 PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B39&SUBSYS_50041458&REV_05\3&13C0B0C5&0&EB

    Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller – 3B3C PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B3C&SUBSYS_50061458&REV_05\3&13C0B0C5&0&D7

    Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Family USB Universal Host Controller – 3B36 PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B36&SUBSYS_50041458&REV_05\3&13C0B0C5&0&E8

    Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Family USB Universal Host Controller – 3B3F PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B3F&SUBSYS_50041458&REV_05\3&13C0B0C5&0&D2

    I would appreciate advice whether Apple’s assertion is correct and which driver should be retained if that is the case.

    Thanks in advance.

      I connect my iPhone to my Windows 10 Pro 1909 (Intel i7-8750H) & iTunes via USB.
      I have a 8 port USB HUB connected with external 3TB USB HDD and Printer.

      I have none of your Intel USB controllers and have no problems connecting to iTunes.

      Remove all Intel USB controllers in device manager and run ‘Scan for hardware changes’.

      the Intel 5 series USB chipset drivers are found in an old Intel chipset device software utility such as version 9.4.0.1027, which seems to be no longer available from Intel’s web site anymore.

      so I assume OP is using a very old computer (perhaps from the 1st gen Intel core era – Arrandale/Clarkdale/Nehalem – these are most of them that use Intel 5 series chipsets)

      download the INF_allOS_9.4.0.1027.exe file, open the Run dialog box from the Start menu (from the Windows System section), type INF_allOS_9.4.0.1027.exe -overall to run the Intel chipset device software program.
      the “-overall” switch is needed to update the INF files for “Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Family USB Universal Host Controller” and a restart may be needed to complete the installation.

      Also, I found this MS support article 978789 regarding Intel 5 & 3400 series chipsets.

      Thanks for the suggestions.

      @Alex5723
      The USB drivers will be chipset dependent, so your mileage will be different to mine.

      @EP
      Unfortunately I could not access the support article referred to. The Intel chipset device software program did not return any results.

      Consequently I temporarily performed a clean install of Windows. The nine drivers listed were all installed by default, so I have concluded that all nine drivers are essential for effective PC performance. The issue with connecting a iPhone persisted though, bu that is another story!!
