You might observe that your device does not discover the USB connected peripheral and the device discovery does not complete. This issue primarily affects USB-connected multifunction devices or standalone scanners that support scan functionality and the eSCL protocol…

These devices will not be offered to install Windows 11, version 24H2 via the Windows Update release channel…

this eSCL issue. I have an SSD in an enclosure connected to my router and I can access it with\\shareName. After this update, I cannot access it, but on my other computer without this update, I can still access it.  Is this caused by the update?

      ..Resolved Titles:

Star Wars Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora are no longer affected by this issue due to temporary hotfixes deployed by Ubisoft. While these fixes mitigate the crashes, players might still experience some performance issues…

One comment to Alex, copying the Microsoft content isn’t always helpful. “USB devices that support eSCL scan” isn’t as helpful as

Scanners such as Fuijtsu are impacted by 24H2.

When possible don’t just copy and paste, but get the actual vendor impacted by these bugs. It helps to then more clearly identify who is going to be impacted.

If Microsoft doesn’t bother to list impacted devices nor how to check your scanner for eSCL / AirPrint, should I do Microsoft’s work ?

        should I do Microsoft’s work

Yes, if you are posting here. Clarity for our users is more important than “the latest update”.

      Update : https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-health/status-windows-11-24H2#3446msgdesc

..Resolution: This issue was resolved by Windows updates released December 10, 2024 (KB5048667), and later. We recommend you install the latest security update for your device as it contains important improvements and issue resolutions, including this one.

The safeguard hold (ID 54762729) that was previously in place for this issue will be lifted in the coming days. Note that, once you install the Windows update addressing this issue, it may take up to 48 hours for the Windows 11, version 24H2 update to be offered via Windows Update. Restarting your device might expedite the process…

        No, it was not “RESOLVED”.

Problems startet with update in December. And the update later in December did not resolve it.

Kyocera Ecosys M5526cdw Scanner cannot be found (although vuescan finds it, you must pay 50 USD for it though).

Printing works, scanning no (windows 11 cannot find the scanner).

I have uninstalled the update (it kept freezing windows 11 btw. and it did it randomly. I don’t know if it is a “bonus” feature). Still haven’t solved the problem.

Windows would freeze, nothing can be done and after 30 seconds or so windows 11 continues working.
