To make a long story short: I cleaned out xupiter from my system with the help of Spybot and Destroy and HijackThis. I ended up with a URLSearchHook with a missing value. The registry entry is HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftInternet ExplorerURLSearchHooks but there is no value set on the right side of the registry editor pane. Does anyone know what should be entered there?

Thanks for your reply. You have more than I have. Could you send me a registry entry for just that folder. I don’t have the second line with the long series of numbers and letters. Thanks a lot.

Here you go. I had to change the extension from .reg to attach it.
          Good luck!

Thanks for your time. Thats exactly what I needed and it worked! I suggest you block access to http://www.xupiter.com with your Internet Tools under restricted sites.

I will pass this information along and hopefully get it back to the Spybot creator. It is easier to reach the creator of HijackThis, but I will try to get to both of them. Thanks.

Dang! Sorry. It was HijackThis that was responsible. The creator is aware and it will be fixed….
