    Hello,

I have a mail merge question. I am trying to merge data from an Access database into a form letter. I have linked my data source to the letter with no problems, but the data is not merging as I expected. The purpose of my merge to assign clients from one consultant to a new consultant. The way the list is built, each client has its own line, so when I merge each client gets its own letter. So what happens is that each consultant gets several letters notifying himt that he has new clients. What I would like to happen is for the merge to group all of the clients on one page and only list each consultant one time and generate only one letter per client.

    Data is formatted like this:
    Transfer From:________Transfer To:________Client
    YYY_________________AAAA_____________Client 1
    YYY_________________BBBB____________Client 2
    YYY_________________BBBB____________Client 3
    ZZZ_________________AAAA_____________Client 4

    Letter should look like this

    Dear AAAA,

    Your new clients are:

    Client 1
    Client 4

I hope this is not confusing. If you have questions, I would be glad to clarify.

    Thanks,

My knowledge of mailmerge is very limited. Just a thought, try a catalog merge.

You may want to look at Cindy Meister’s articles on mailmerge. Links to them and other mailmerge pages are at Word Web Resources – MailMerge (addbalance.com/word/wordwebresources.htm)
