I am assuming I am running the click to run version because that’s how the product identifies itself on the account page in the settings.  All of the software resides on my local HD.

When it comes to updating my version of Office I’m more than a little confused. I seem to have only one option, update everything at once or update nothing based on the options on the account page. Updates are provided within my version Office and not via Windows Update.

Is there a way for me to follow Susan’s advise and install some of the available Office patches and hold off on others or must I wait for the all clear on everything before turning Office loose to grab everything it feels I need? What do I do if I miss the optimum update time window for a particular month? For example let’s say I do not grab July patches in time and August patches have been released. Is there a way to specify to update with only the July patches and wait on the new and “not yet vetted” August patches for now or do I just have to suck it up and wait until the end of August but before the Sept. patches are released?

    Thx.

Due to the inner workings between the applications in the Office suite I just let the updates do their thing, haven’t had a problem yet.

Before you wonder "Am I doing things right," ask "Am I doing the right things?"

Click-to-run updates are all or nothing. You can’t pick and choose. If you have the click-to-run version all you can do is disable updating until you are comfortable with the updates. Like Berton, I just let them update and have never had a problem.

I remember the last time I had trouble with a Win10 update back in 2016. I have no idea when an Office update caused me a problem, almost definitely not this decade. My business relies on Office every day, so believe me I’d remember any problems!

My advice is to save yourself all the stress & worry & scheduling. Do your OS/Programs/Users disk image at least in the first week of every month, relax and let the updates happen when they will.
