Updating Headers / Footers (Excel 2003 VBA)

We have been working on an excel model recently at work and part of that involves automatically updating the headers and footers. I’ve noticed that this process takes a long time (30 sec for 30 sheets) and appears to be linked to the printer (somehow).

Is there a way of speeding this up?

Any code involving PageSetup in Excel VBA is very slow. There is a workaround that uses the ExecuteExcel4Macro method of the Application object. See post 177205.
