There was an article in the November Access-VB-SQL Advisor magazine discussing a 3-database technique for updating front-ends. I liked the idea, so I built a sample that demonstrates the concept (there was no download included with the article) in its simplest form. If anyone is interested, I’d be glad to send a zip file containing the 3 sample mdbs. I’m working on incorporating it into a number of databases I build and maintain, so I’ll make a more elaborate version later on to anyone who wants it.

I’ll try, but I keep losing my connection.

the files updated just as they were suppose to
              even after the error message
