I have windows updates paused as recommended by you. But MS says it wants to install updates to Office 2019. Should I update?

AskWoody PlusJune 23, 2020 at 2:04 pm #2274749Hi TonySca:
MS Office 2019 is Click-to-Run (C2R), so I don’t believe deferring/pausing Windows Updates is going to stop your MS Office 2019 updates from downloading automatically. You might have to go to File | Office Account | Office Updates | Update Options and choose Disable Updates to do this.
I currently have I have a Win 10 Pro v1909 Build 18363.836 (rel. 12-May-2020) and haven’t received my June 2020 OS update to Build 18363.900 (KB4560960, rel. 09-Jun-2020) yet because my advanced Windows Updates setting at Advanced Options | Choose When Updates Are Installed is currently set to defer monthly quality updates for 30 days. However, the latest MS Office 2019 C2R update Version 2005 Build 12827.20336 (released 09-Jun-2020) was still automatically delivered to this Win 10 Pro computer a few days ago. I gather this is by design for MS Office C2R products, and similar to the way my Windows Defender definition updates download automatically and ignore the Windows Update 30-day deferral for my OS and .NET Framework updates.
The latest MS Office 2019 Version 2005 Build 12827.20336 hasn’t caused any of the problems described in Woody’s Debilitating ‘Outlook needs to close’ bug linked to a bad Windows cumulative update on my system but that’s likely because I haven’t installed the June 2020 Patch Tuesday update for my Win 10 OS yet.
