Since the automatic updates to Win10 of this morning 11Sep19 (Australia), “Updater.exe (Unicode)” is running constantly at between 16% and 17% CPU with 1.2MB memory – Power usage is “Very High”.  The CPU fan in my laptop is running faster than normal.  Have rebooted again after the  updates, but no change.

Just wondering whether this is normal, or something to do with today’s updates.

    Any advice appreciated.

Normal?, it depends on what updater is supposed to be doing.

Updater.exe could belong to any installed program suite. On the Details tab right-click on the program in Task Manager, click on Properties. In the new window click on the Details tab, there may be text describing which software package it belongs.

Or if it is too late in Task Manager you can open a command windows Win+R type cmd, click okay or press enter, then type dir \updater.exe /s and wait. If you get a hit then you can use File Explorer for navigating to the directory and get file specific details.

Windows itself does not use a program with that name unless newer versions have changed their ways.

      Updater.exe

The only updater.exe on my Windows 10 1809 Pro in for Firefox.
      You may have other applications.
