• up grade from 98 to xp (xp home)

    I decided to take the leap and up grade from win 98 to xp home. I was getting ready to head down to the store and get the “xp Home up-grade” . Then a question came to mind.
    I heard that it is best not to just over write the win 98 with xp , but to get rid of 98 and THEN install XP.
    So, here is the question. If I get rid of Win98 on my system, will the XP ‘up grade’ work, or do I have to purchase the full XP?

      The upgrade will ask for proof of ownership, at which point you insert the Windows 98 CD into the drive for it to examine. You will be just fine…and much happier for having done a clean install!
