Found an unusual and empty folder in/on my root drive named “06002c31a4f9117e26be9f8cbc3e3d” . I’ve tried googling it and everything else I could think of to identify what it is and where it came from….all with no results.

Anybody have a clue as to what this folder is all about ????

    Thanks

This will be from a software installation. Windows installer (msiexec) creates a temporary folder in the root of the drive with the most space to extract the files required for the installation. Sometimes the installer doesn’t clean up afterwards and sometimes the installer incorrectly registers DLLs in the temporary folder so you can’t delete the folder – what a pain.
You should be able to delete the folder without repercussions.

      cheers, Paul

Thanks Paul, that’s what I suspected but I just wasn’t sure.
