I just dumped Co-Pilot or CoPilot.

I want to dump Edge.  I use Firefox and Brave.

Can anyone help me?  I am an ordinary user.

    Thanks in advance.

I don’t know what the problem is.  I thought my issue was clearly stated.

Here’s a link to a post by @Microfix on one way to remove Edge. Read the post THOROUGHLY and CAREFULLY before attempting to run the batch file contained in the link in the post.

There are others here who have also removed Edge from their systems, among them are @PKCano and @bbearren . @bbearren has used Revo Uninstaller Pro to remove Edge, but that version of Revo Uninstaller is a paid version if I recall correctly.

@bbearren has used Revo Uninstaller Pro to remove Edge, but that version of Revo Uninstaller is a paid version if I recall correctly.

Indeed it is a paid version, regularly priced two-year license is $39.95 US, currently sale-priced at $16.78.  And no, I am not affiliated in any way, just a very satisfied user for a number of years, now.

Bear in mind that MS will re-install Edge after a while.  I just check C:\Program Files\Microsoft\ from time to time, and keep uninstalling it.  My secondary browser, DuckDuckGo, uses EdgeWebView, but Revo Uninstaller allows for selectively leaving EdgeWebView unaffected.

Always create a fresh drive image before making system changes/Windows updates; you may need to start over!
We all have our own reasons for doing the things that we do with our systems; we don't need anyone's approval, and we don't all have to do the same things.
We were all once "Average Users".

…Revo Uninstaller allows for selectively leaving EdgeWebView unaffected.

The same thing can be done with the batch file in @Microfix ‘s post as well as long as one reads the post carefully first!  😉

Thanks for confirming my suspicions about Revo Uninstaller Pro.

It was quite awhile ago, but what I seem to remember is

      1. I used Process Explorer to kill Edge.
      2. Then I used Autoruns to prevent it from starting up with Windows 10.
      3. Then I searched for Edge using Agent Ransack and simply deleted the folders that I thought had the main contents.
      4. Finally, I used Registry Finder (and when it couldn’t do the job, Registry Registrar) to remove what looked like the relevant entries from the registry.

Then I said a prayer and restarted my machine. As far as I can see, I’ve never had Edge reappear.

Yes, it’s kind of a by-guess-and-by-gosh process, and it requires attention and, of course, getting the relevant programs if you don’t have them, but I’ve been happy with the result.

I do the Tuesday Updates regularly, and so far, M$ has never retried to reinstall it.

      Your mileage may vary.

P.S. Somehow, I learned I needed to keep Edge Web View.

Also, if it’s of any relevance, I used the procedure first on one of my NUCs, then repeated it on the other two, then on my two HP laptops, and finally on my Lenovo ThinkStation P520.

What’s the purpose of the WebView2 executable?

WebView2 (msedgewebview2.exe) is a Microsoft product that is updated automatically (by using the Evergreen distribution method) to ensure that your applications have the latest feature support and security fixes.

Most people will see WebView2 used by Widgets, Teams, Office, Outlook, Weather, and many more applications. Any application can use WebView2.

WebView2 is pre-installed on Windows 11 and is installed on most Windows 10 devices. See Delivering the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime to Windows 10 Consumers.

Many apps that are built on WebView2 perform checks to re-install WebView2 when the app is installed or launched. Enterprises can also push WebView2 to devices that they manage.

        Hi Vandermeer,

Your procedure worked for me.   I left C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\EdgeWebView alone.
No problems with Edge running in the background and consuming bandwidth and processing when I don’t want to use it at all.  It is not active.
