Unable to open any email attachments

Hi all, thanks for being here for us all.

Unfortunately I am unable to open any attachments in Outlook 2003. Something must have changed on my system because I used to be able to open them?

‘The system cannot find the file specified’ is the error flag.

However it does appear to make a directory on my C: drive called c:olk24 and puts the said attachment into this dir.

Any help on this one guys….ta very much..

Do you by any chance have Office 2007 compatibility Pack installed as well?

yes I do have it installed.

Do you think this is the problem?

It is a distinct possibility from what I’ve Googled.

“Solution:

[*]Open Windows Explorer/My Computer
[*]Go to Tools, then Folder Options
[*]Click on the File Types tab
[*]Scroll down to the file type you are having issues with (ex: .xlsx or .docx)
[*]Click Change
[*]Choose the regular program to open the attachment– in other words, you want Excel to open a .xlsx, or Word to open .docx, etc. DO NOT CHOOSE THE COMPATIBILITY PACK PROGRAM.
[*]Click OK”

See if that helps or not.
