Unable to erase tape (Windows XP Pro SP1)

Using ntbackup.exe with a Seagate Travan tape drive, contrary to the Help file that suggests using Erase Tape on the Media Tools tab, there is no such option available. Accordingly I can’t backup onto a previously used tape.

Any advice would be gratefully received.
