Hi,
Suddenly I am unable to create or access a folder on any usb drive using Windows Explorer. Error message is You do not have access to this device. I can however copy a file to the device no problem, but not access or delete it
I can however create, access, or delete folder using the command prompt.
The USB devices are all visible.
This situation occurs no matter how drive is formatted, NTFS or Fat32. Taking ownership of device using NTFS security succeeds, but still no access.
The device(s) work fine on other PC’s and laptops. Current release of Windows 10 home, all patches/updates installed as per Belarc advisor.
USB drivers reinstalled, and same version as on other PC’s and laptops on my home network.
Have deleted all USB devices from device manager and rebooted to force reinstall of drivers.
This issue effectively stops me from backing up my PC’s hard drives to any local USB device, I can backup however to a shared USB device on another PC.
I thought it was a security issue until I found that access via command prompt is fine, but via Windows Explorer is not, which makes me think it is something else.
The above situation occurs both with user in the administrators group, and the administrator.
Any clues would be greatly appreciated.
