    This is 2 separate puzzles:

The upper half of the picture is an ODD ONE OUT puzzle. Just determine which of the five items do not belong with the other four and why.

The bottom half is a book title with a bit of crypto mixed in. See if you can decipher the title.

      If you need them, hints:

Q1 – Shapes & Shades do not matter, pay attention to the content.

Q2 – This one’s too easy for a hint, but don’t look for your normal cryptogram here…

I say the brown CDU, because the rest all have straight lines.

Thanks for trying MJ, but that’s not a correct guess. In fact, the blue box has rounded corners. Try Again!
        cheers

Part 1 – All are airport codes, 4 in Australia, but CYS is Cheyenne Wyoming, USA

Wow – Karen nailed it. I was beginning to think this one would go unsolved… cheers

Now, Can you decipher the book title?

        • #682725

I’ve never been good with cryptograms… anagrams yes! For instance, the one solved here has an anagram flavor and took a little less than 9 minutes. Sequencing and pattern recognition, generally not bad. Part 1 of this only took a few minutes, but I’ve been traveling a lot lately so the look-up required to solve it made sense to me… I’ve been having to do it a lot lately anyway. I’m afraid the book title is beyond my ken, and need be accomplished by someone other than I.

I probably messed up by representing Q2 has a cryptogram. A cryptogram, in true fashion, is simply a substitution of one letter for another. This is not “that”. I should have said that it is a book title in disguise . Study the letter pattern and I bet you’ll see it instantly. cheers

That’s right Rory – Was this your first look?

            • #682910

Yup, though I confess I had read the entire thread before I actually started trying to figure it out (my default is flat mode so it’s too tempting not to! grin)

Another hint for Q2. – This is not a typical cryptogram where one letter is substituted for another. You’ll have to take a second look to “break the code”.
