I have a user that needs two different connections to the internet, one is LAN and the other is dial up. Is it possible to have two seperate IE icons on the desktop each with a different connection configuration?
Or does someone have a better idea than swithcing the settings each time he wants to use the different set up.
    Thanks,

      Here is an idea.

Setup the LAN connection and the Dial-up connection.

Now Select Tools | Options | Connections tab.

In the Dial-up and Virtual Private Networking settings frame, there is a Radio button that says “Dial whenever a network connection is not present”

That should allow him/her to launch IE and it will check for a network connection. If it’s there, it won’t dial, but if the Network connection isn’t there, then it will dial out.

Also, if the LAN connection uses a Proxy. Keep a check mark in the ‘Automatically Detect Proxy’ option, because if you have a proxy setup, the dialup connection will try to use the LAN proxy, which it will probably not be able to get too.
