I am trying to update Windows 11 21h2 to 22h2 but Windows Update says I am up to date.

Windows has its own partition and there are two users, an administrative user and a limited access user.

Any help anyone can give me would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

What version does Settings | System | About say?

Settings says the edition is Windows 11 Pro and the version is 21H2.

      Alice,
If W11 is a Pro version, it might be an idea to check the Group Policy WUfB settings to ensure the ‘Target Feature Version’ is blank (no text within the field) clear it and reboot the system and try again.
Do you have GRC incontrol active or in use? might be worth checking over and clear any restrictions.

        Microfix,

        1. I used Group Policy when I first set up the machine over a year ago and no longer remember how to use it. Can you tell me what I have to do to follow your suggestion?

        2. I did have InControl active but changed it to not in control two months ago. I just checked it and it show that I am not in control.

        3. Thank you for your reply.

sorry, not on a windows device atm so from what I can remember:
      Type: gpedit.msc in a runbox
navigate to admin>windows update>windows update for business
check over and clear the ‘Target Feature Version’ so the field is blank (nothing in it) exit gpedit and restart device. try to upgrade again.

That should be “Target Release Version”

        Microfix,

I typed gpedit.msc in a run box, clicked on Run as Administrator and entered my pin. That got me to Local Computer Policy which as two items, Computer Configuration and User Configuration.

When you have access to a Windows device, could you please tell me how to proceed from there?

Thank you very much for your continued help.

          Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Update\Windows update for business

            PKCano,

            Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Update\Windows update for business

I was able to get as far as Windows Update, but the options didn’t include Windows Update for Business.

So I clicked on Manage updates offered from Windows Update and I see that there is an option Select the target Feature Update version which is not configured.

Do you know how to configure it?

            Thank you.

Double click on “Select the target Feature Update version.
In the box that pops up, click on “Enabled”
Enter Windows 11 in the top box and 22H2 in the lower box.
              Click “Apply” then “OK”

              PKCano,

I followed your instructions and Feature Update version now says Enabled, Windows 11, 22H2. I will be away until Friday or Saturday, but I will try updating Windows again after I get back.

Thank you very much for your detailed help.

              PKCano,

Success! When I ran Windows Update, it installed 22H2.

You can use InControl and set to Windows 11 22H2 (that way you won’t be pushed to 23H2.)
      Restart.
