They released version 6.3 last week, I downloaded it but didn’t post anything about it. Most of the time when it comes to more or less widely used software that have built-in update checks etc. it isn’t of much use to post anything, I think. In this case, however, a link to the download page.

But then I remembered this thread; don’t want them to sneak anything by you BATcher.

Anyhow, since one of the new features is full support for Windows 7, I guess it could be worth mentioning in these early days of the new OS.

Thank you! TrueCrypt doesn’t have a “there’s a new update available” mechanism, so I suspect I’m going to have to add one of its webpages into ChangeDetection.

Interestingly, and annoyingly, there is no mention of support for Windows Server 2008, so I’ll have to test it myself.

Oh yes there is – you just have to look in the right place in the Docs…!

I have been using Truecrypt 6.3 with Windows 7 for a week or two now with no problems. It looks pretty solid.

I have it as well, but I would be interested to know if anyone has compared it to Windows 7’s own encryption tools.

You mean like BitLocker, only available with Windows 7 Ultimate?
Or the “Encrypting File System” (EFS) that’s been around for ages? (The probable reason they wrote BitLocker… )

It just occurred to me, on reviewing the thread, to tell you that I found out about the update by using FileHippo Update Checker, with which you may not be familiar. (I am still confused about creating links under the new system, but it is an easily found ‘standard’. There are assorted changes that it will not notify you of, such as GoodSync, but it covers a lot of territory and I think it is widely used.)

Thanks, Peter – I use Change Detection, and point it to an appropriate page on each website. I use it for information other than software updates.

BitLocker is avaiable for Win7 Enterprise Edition aswell as Ultimate.
I’we been using it on my Lenovo T60 (with built-in TPM) for several weeks now, with zero to none inpact on performance.
However, I havn’t gotten around to testing any “restore” options.
