Hey, I’m new to the forum. I just did a search and did not find what I was looking for. We are running Office XP 2002. The problem that I keep encountering is when people send me Word documents (and Excel to some extent). When people send documents, I get their toolbar setup. The only toolbar that I use is a customized one, I have all others turned off. It’s quite frustrating to constantly have to go to view=>toolbars and turn off these other toolbars.

    Is there a solution.

Any particular toolbars? If you receive a document that contains revision marks (tracked changes), Word will display the Reviewing toolbar. If the document was saved in “Web view” (instead of Normal or Print Layout view), you might get the Web toolbar. If a picture is selected when you open the document, Word will display the Picture toolbar.

Otherwise, you should almost never see any toolbar changes. The sender could actually embed toolbars in the document, of course, but that is very unusual.

The toolbars that normally show are indeed the reviewing, revision, web, and web tools. Also, I normally keep my ruler turned on and when I get some of these other toolbars presenting themselves, my ruler gets turned off.

        Any ideas?

There are some old threads on how to permanently suppress the web toolbar (see post 258844 and post 325058). Because I do use revision marks, I eventually just docked that toolbar under my Formatting bar to avoid having it appear and disappear. If you have a small screen, this isn’t a good solution, but it works for me. Also, I turned off the option in Outlook to flag my outbound documents for review when they are returned.
