Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |
I have recently been diagnosed with what is called Trigger Finger in one of my fingers on my left hand.
The finger between the pointer and ring finger. 
I have been told that a form of minor surgery is needed to correct this problem.
Has any one here on this forum ever had the same thing and did the surgery fix it for good?
Haven’t had a second opinion yet.
Oh goodness, I wish you good fortune. At my age I’ve known lots of ELDER people with bent fingers and I always assumed it to be some form of arthritis. I had never heard anyone use the name “trigger finger” before.
Well, if it IS correctable with what they call “minor” surgery, you’d just about have to give it some consideration. I don’t blame you if you’re hesitant since surgery to the hands or feet is … Well, you know what I’m getting at.

It is not a bent finger.
It just snaps open and closed when I open and close my hand.

Now I’m going to make an attempt at gutter-humor that I hope will not offend you. I know you have a real medical problem on your hands, but as a fellow (former) Brooklynite I can’t resist.
As a fellow New Yorker, you know what “we” usually do with THAT finger, right? Yeah, we “wave” at other drivers, umpires at baseball games, and so on. But, if you go to Catholic school you don’t do such things or you’ll get your palm severely slapped with a 12-inch ruler!

I hope it is not true because if it is then I’m toast!
About five weeks ago I was downtown just walking around window shopping.
I had to cross Main St. (which is a very wide St.) and started to do so when the pedestrian walk light came on.
As I was walking along the pedestrian cross walk to get to the other side of the street, (you know where that chicken is always trying to get to) a mini bus cut in front of me and almost ran me over.
I, in a very frightened frame of mind yelled out an nasty expletive to the driver of the mini van.
The driver opened their window and a Catholic nun stuck out her head and returned her own type of nasty expletive.
Well after I and every body within ear shot got over the shock of hearing the nasty expletive come out of the mouth of a Catholic nun, my response was to flip her a left handed bird, she sneered at me and drove off.
The best I can think of is when that mini van with those nuns in it got back to their convent, they all went down into their secret basement room, got into a huddle and prayed for “Da Curse” to be put on the finger I used to reply to the drivers expletive.
Two weeks later I woke up with this “Trigger Finger” in the finger I used that day.
I spent eight years going to a Catholic grammar school and my friends and I always thought the nuns that we had were a little on the witchy side, simply by the way they could just stand there, stare at us kids and get their way with us. 
I hope that that is not the case with my finger.
The doctor says it occurs in people mainly because of age and in my case it is not a nun related curse.
If for some reason this problem in my finger is fixed with the minor surgery and I wind up with the same problem in another finger, I will seriously think about hiring an exorcist and or a witch doctor. 
I’m gonna say something to you now that all my Irish Catholic relatives and friends used to say and it was NOT considered swearing or blasphemy. So, I hope The Lounge censor doesn’t cut it:
Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I can’t believe a Catholic nun did that to you. It sure adds a bit of modern day reality to my world of thinking!

I respect them totally, but I think they can be very scary to a kid!
I had trigger finger, and it was truly painful. My first attempt to relieve the problem was to go to a plastic surgeon who gave me a shot of cortisone. Quick, simple, what a relief. Unfortunately, a year or so later, it returned. This time I didn’t have the shot–flexed my hand quite often, soaked it in warm water, applied a cream of some sort intended for arthiritis. Problem went away after several weeks, and hasn’t returned.
By the way, take two aspirin and call me in the morning.

Trigger Finger Update.
All the treatment that was given to my hand did not work.
Had the surgery done yesterday morning and the trigger finger has been fixed. (I hope!)
Went through a lot of pain once the numbness they put into my hand went away.
Still a bit sore today.
My whole hand is wrapped up like a boxers hand and I have a ten day supply of Codeine to use for the pain.
That stuff works REAL NICE. 
Need to ask for rides to go anywhere I need to go.
Using that stuff and driving is a definite DUI in this state.
(Now to get even with them there NUNS!)
