• Transferring a large file through FTP

I have a 90 mb AVI video file that I am trying to transfer to my sister. I didn’t try emailing it because I think Gmail’s attachment size limit is 20 mb. So I instead uploaded the file via FTP to the web site http://www.tellerbooks.com. The address of the file is http://www.tellerbooks.com/Speech_3.2.AVI.

I have tried this in the past and usually, when I point IE to the relevant address and press enter, I get the message “Do you want to open or save the file?” This time, however, Windows Media Player automatically opened up and the video started buffering. After a few minutes, it started playing, but audio only. There was no image showing.

For my sister, on the other hand, the video and the audio buffered and then were playing, but she couldn’t figure out how to download the video.

    Two questions:
    – Why does only the audio play on my computer?
    – How could my sister or I download the video if IE doesn’t ask when pointing to the address “Do you want to open or save the file?”

    Regards,

    JMT

You need to have the appropriate codec to play the avi file in WMP if no native support is present.
Sound and video work for me in WMP. You may aslo try an alternate player like VLC
You may have uploaded it wrong, all I get from the above link you provided was a direct link to open the avi file only. No other options.

      http://www.tellerbooks.com/Speech_3.2.AVI
Copy and paste the above URL in an email to your sister, she can then right click on it and choose an option.
She needs to be able to access links in her email client.
Below is a Gspot examination of the codecs used…
