I am trying to export some data using a macro and the transfer text feature. The macro generates a .txt file and is fixed width. When I view the txt file, each row of data is not lined up based on name. This throw off my other program that generates files for our imaging system. Each field must start and stop at the same positions. What am I doing wrong?

Replies

Are you using an export spec to define the field widths? If no, that may be the problem.

Yes. I have created the file specifications.

Any other suggestions?

Did your macro is something like the attachment ?

I had a user with a similar problem before – it LOOKED as if the data wasn’t lined up, but was due to viewing data in WordPad (uses proportional spacing) verse Notepad. Possible?
