Transfer my E-mail and Contacts from Century Link to Hotmail

I have been using Century Link and I decided to switch to Hotmail.

I would like to import my e-mails and contacts to Hotmail.

I’m stumped on how to do this. HELP!!

I noticed you posted a question in the Outlook forum also. If you use Outlook 2010 to access your email, download and install theOutlook Hotmail Connector. Establish the connection to your new Hotmail account. You should then be able to drag and drop email and contacts between the two accounts.

Note: the download link is to the 32-bit version. There is a 64-bit version available but Microsoft recommends that unless you have a specific reason to use the 64-bit version of Office 2010 you install the 32-bit version.

What are you using as an email client for Century Link? Or Are you reading Email via the a web interface?

What email client? Outlook, Outlook Express Windows, Live Mail, Thunderbird , Century Link web site or ????

If it’s the Century Link Email web Client ( https://secure.centurylink.net/login.php?bounceto=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.centurylink.net%2Fzmail%2F%3Fautologin%3Dtrue ) as I suspect it is, you will have to contact Century Link support for help. There may be no good way to export mail and contacts.

I am trying to assist someone who is using the Century Link email client. Can anyone in this thread tell me if that client facilitates saving the contacts to a .csv file? I can then have her import to Windows Live Mail from the csv file. Century Link has a tutorial on their site that suggests one can import their contacts as a csv file into Windows Mail in Vista, so I think there must be a way. Thanks!

I did end up saving the Century Link address book as a .csv file and imported that into Outlook Express. I assume that would work the same with Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail. Sorry I didn’t follow up on this thread at the time. If you have figured out a more direct route, it would be good to post it for anyone who may search to resolve that transfer problem again.

I don’t have CenturyLink myself; I was doing it for a relative, so I have delayed answering hoping someone would jump in who had done it more recently or has the program on his/her computer. I found this blog, though, and I believe it will be helpful to you:

My client ended up typing her contacts all in manually to windows live mail. There was no export function at all in her Centurylink email interface. Her email ended in @centurylink.net.
I did spend quite a bit of time on the phone with their tech support, and had several people “working” on this, and they finally admitted there is no way to do this. Extremely unfortunate…I find it hard to believe that an ISP would release an email interface without an export function for contacts.

The reason for this transfer in the beginning is that their email interface is NOT compatible with Windows 8. Just as an FYI.

Ouch! That is really poor. I’m sure that was my thought at the time. Sorry for the bum steer on mitesh’s blog. I hadn’t noticed the q.com reference until now. That works for q.com as the former ISP, Qwest, did allow export. Well, I know I did it. I’m wondering now if I copied and pasted the page of contacts and plugged them into a table or Excel or some such thing. You know, my relative had Net Zero dial-up before going with CenturyLink DSL I wonder if I managed to get them from that address book instead. Sorry to be thinking out loud, but surely would like to have solved this. I can’t believe CenturyLink is still prohibiting contacts export. That is incredible!
