When using tracked changes, one person sees deleted text in red and inserted text underlined in red. On other machines, we can have the deleted text appear in strikethrough by going to Tools… Options…. Tracked Changes and clearing the “Use balloons in print and web layout”. Any ideas where we can go to correct this?

    Thanks,
    Kathy

      Hi Kathy:
I haven’t used Word 2002. However, does this article help?

Thanks for sending me the link! That’s the article which first alerted me to the “Use balloons in print and web layout” checkbox. Sadly, though, her machine refuses to follow this directive. I did see one post with the identical problem in a Microsoft newsgroup, but no one had responded with a solution to this “once in a while” problem.

Just a footnote on this subject in case someone else runs across it…

I tried several things. I believe this is the one that solved the problem. Finally, in the registry I found there was an entry for Word 97 and another for Word XP. When I backed up the registry and then deleted these entries, the revision deleted text tracking feature started working correctly.
