Version 14’s compact call notifications are a breath of fresh air. When a phone call comes in, I can now continue work on my iPhone without a call notification taking over my entire screen. The only issue I’ve had with this feature is figuring out how to quickly put a call on speaker phone directly from the notification
So how do you quickly put a call on the speaker phone directly from the notification? Or answer the phone directly using the speaker phone button like with ios 13?

AskWoody PlusNovember 17, 2020 at 2:09 pm #2312538When I answer the incoming call, the banner notification does display a speaker icon I can click to put it on Speaker mode before it disappears. It took a bit to figure it out, but I finally got it
I haven’t updated yet, but I’m am still confused how to answer an incoming call “directly” from the new phone banner via the speakerphone.
From all the sites I reviewed, it appears you only see the green answer button or the red reject button on the banner. So how do you produce the speakerphone button on the banner? Or do you have to answer the call first? Or tap banner to go full screen before the speakerphone button becomes available?

AskWoody_MVPOctober 15, 2020 at 5:03 pm #2304580Ironically after this newsletter went out, I had to change my default browser across all devices back to Safari since I’m having syncing issues with Brave between Mac/iOS and crashing issues with Brave. The syncing issues should resolve in a Brave iOS update, plus I’m going to run a tool to see if I can resolve the Brave crashing issue.
In the meantime, I’m still using Outlook as default across devices. I’ll check out Mail in Big Sur to see if I want to go back, but Outlook does feel a bit more “business grade”.

MemberNovember 17, 2020 at 6:49 pm #2312604Nathan, I one goes from Mail to Outlook and then back to Mail, would one the get the Outlook messages listed in Mail with their “subjects” and senders’ email addresses, along with the date of every message, in the same way as if one had not migrated these mails from Outlook, or would all that information be lost, except perhaps for the dates, replaced by some cryptic long numbers?

AskWoody_MVPNovember 17, 2020 at 7:02 pm #2312606I had to go back to macOS/iOS Mail recently (even before Big Sur). All my messages synced OK since I use IMAP and Exchange. What didn’t come over was my list of previously-emailed recipients, so I had to add some of those to my contacts. 🙂
