I did a format and clean install of W7 on my Toshiba Satellite Pro A120, and for a couple of days it worked fine without looking for Toshiba drivers. Suddenly it has begun re-booting and getting blue screens. I’ve run the repair option and System Restore, but still got the blue screens. At one point in safe mode a couple of drivers appeared to be missing, but though I downloaded a full set of Toshiba drivers I can’t tell which ones the missing ones are! I’m reluctant to just update drivers at a guess.
Any help appreciated! I’m beginning to wonder why I bothered to upgrade the OS, though W7 is so pleasant and fast to use………

Update! I went to Windows update and got a graphics card driver from there; it does seem to have fixed it.

Thanks for the update. Graphics drivers can be irritating. At times, when you have a driver that is working well on your system, it is a mistake to update to a later driver because your system becomes unstable (If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!). At the same time an out of date or simply bad graphics driver can cause many wierd problems that are not easy to diagnose. Windows, although it has very high success rates for loading drivers that work well with many hardware devices and systems, does on occasion not load the best drivers for every system.

This points out that if after an upgrade you start having unexpected, strange problems, one of the early things to check are drivers. Many PC manufacturers have lists of available drivers and updated apps in their support areas. This is generally a great place to begin looking for updated drivers. If these drivers don’t solve your particular problem, then a visit to the device manufacturer’s site may lead to better drivers.

Glad you were able to solve your problem. I hope you enjoy Win 7 as much as I do.

Thanks for that! Win 7 did actually supply drivers for all the rest of the laptop needs, and then found the graphics also, so I was impressed.
Yes, I am enjoying Windows 7. It’s the best OS Microsoft has put out.
      Have a good weekend!
