Something I accidently did seems to have deleted the Tools menu from the Menu bar. How do I get it back?

Go to the View Menu, trace down to Toolbars, trace over and down to Customize. Go to the Toolbars tab, Select Menu Bar, Click the Reset button on the right. Close the box and your Tools menu should now appear.

Tried that but it didn’t work, so I closed Word, renamed normal.dot, reopened Word, which created the default normal.dot. All menus are now correct.

The problem is with the Menu Bar, not the Tool Bar. Your solution only affects Tool Bars. However, I solved the problem by replacing Normal.dot, as explained in my post of yesterday.
Thanks for your input. I’m sure that I’ll have to replace a Tool Bar someday.
