• Togle Proxy Server settings (5.5)

    Hello,

I have a Laptop that I use both at home and in the office. In the office, I have to turn on my proxy settings in order to connect to the LAN. However at home I need to turn off the proxy settings in order to use my DSL. Is there a quick way to do this? I currently have to launch IE and go into connections to manually adjust my proxy setting. Is there a way to do this before I launch IE?

    Thanks,

Are these a property of the network connection? I guess I’m lucky in that I use a docking station at work at a PC card NIC elsewhere, so the settings are separate…but I digress: you might be able to find a registry key, export both versions to .reg files, and then when you want to change the settings merge the relevant file. But this is just a wild guess.

I would suspect you guess is correct. You can use a tool like Reg Shot to Capture extactly where the registry modifications are made. You can then do several things:

        1) Create two .reg files — and click on the correct one before opening IE. This will lead to the Prompt Screen and Msg Box at the end. Not necessarily the cleanest way, but probably the simplest.

        2) Create a Script file that can toggle either way. You can avoid the Prompt Screen and Msg Box if desired.
