I recently bought a Surface Pro with Typecover, and while experimenting, somehow changed the Insert/Overstrike setting. I haven’t been able to find how to change it back from the Surface keyboard, which does not have an INS key. Plugging in a USB keyboard briefly allowed me to fix it, but I would like to know what the real key combination is. Besides, there are probably other key combinations which would be useful.

Usually the Insert key, and I doubt if Surface Pro is any different. But if in Word; right-click the Status Bar at the bottom, then Insert/Overtype.

Actually, the Surface Pro is different. It does not have an Insert key. Perhaps there is a key combination which is equivalent to the Insert key?

OK, I now see the problem; but have come up short of an answer!

Answer found. Run the On Screen Keyboard, OSK.EXE. This brings up a full keyboard, including the Insert key.
