Your network is secure, your computer is up and running, and your printer is jam-free. Why? Because you’ve got an awesome sysadmin (or maybe a whole IT department) keeping your business up and running. So say IT loud; say IT proud…

    Happy SysAdmin Day!

Wait… what exactly is SysAdmin Day? Oh, it’s only the single greatest 24 hours on the planet and pretty much the most important holiday of the year. It’s also the perfect opportunity to pay tribute to the heroic men and women who, come rain or shine, prevent disasters, keep IT secure and put out tech fires left and right.

At this point you may be thinking, “Great, I get it. My sysadmin is a rock star. But now what?” Glad you asked!

    * Keep you admins happy so as not to turn them into BOFH.

      Secure- Maybe.

Computer- Is up and running but not working correctly most of the time and I need to fix them myself.

At every jobs I had since high school, most admin are useless. When I had admin rights, I fixed my own issues most of the time. After admins rights were taken away, because of security policies, I have to use Windows exploits to fix issues or privacy issues or other things when it took too long for IT to get off their ass and do the work . These exploits are not well know by admins from what I can tell since they do not seem to care that I made changes to make my work easier and simpler. I had an issues recently and got IT to help but it was only half done and than nothing else for over a week and I got tried of waiting. I fixed it myself using an exploit to install the other missing program. IT call 2 weeks later asking if still needed to be fixed and I told them it seems to be working now. The IT person said great, I’ll close the ticket as fixed. I gave them 1 star on the ticket, but those ratings seems to mean nothing since useless IT people are still there.

I give half an admin day, and other half goes to me.
