I realize that this would vary greatly depending on usage, adding and removing programs, etc. but, does anyone have a general time frame time before general OS degredation? meltdown I am especially interested with regards to laptops. My current, and first W2K install (now SP3) is 21months old. 4 hours after a motherboard change I got my FIRST blue screen disappointed (related to a power issue) I picked it up by a corner, then 4 hours later another related to a corrupt hibernation file. I didn’t get another for six weeks (two days ago) until my USB hub power supply died and my scanner driver needed a reinstall with a replacement hub. Am I cruising for a rebuild in the near future or just dissappointed with a broken no blue screen streak? sigh

Generally I have to reinstall Win2k every 6-8 months.

When you think is is necessary. I have several Win2k PCs at work that have not been re-loaded in over 20 months. They are just fine. It just depends.

It depends how you use your computer and how often you perform cleanups (cleaning temp folders, temporary internet cache, jar chache, recycle bin and defragmenting your drives). Once I saw extremly slow performing machine – it has 7 GB of temp files and 64% disk fragmentation…
