I recenlty reinstalled Windows XP SP1 and when I choose thumbnails in Explorer to list my photos, some are clear while others are jumbled. When I choose one of the ones that is jumbled it will display properly either in the filmstrip or the program used to display jpgs. Any one have any thoughts? Thanks.

hmmn Open a search pane (click on the taskbar and press F# to get there quickly), and scan your hard drives for thumbs.db. You’ll need to turn on “search for hidden files” to find them. Then delete them all; these are the cache files for thumbnail view. Let WinXP rebuild them and see if the garbled pictures come back. The purpose of doing this is to see if the corruption comes back, which indicates that something is still present and causing it. If it doesn’t….you got off easy. smile

I should add – make a note of which folder has an example of the problem, so you can compare the before and after results.
