OneDrive’s biggest nuisance for me is it’s insistence on using it for backup.  It constantly pops up in the notification center, file manager and Microsoft 365.  I only use OneDrive for a few files to sync with my phone and will never use it for backup.

Zathras: I feel your pain, as do many other Windows users. As another member has alredy pointed out (thanks Alex 5723!) you can indeed disable OneDrive notifications. There are many users (and organizations) that disable OneDrive to make use of other cloud-based storage services.

        Thanks for your comment!

We have cloud storage provided by an organization other than Microsoft.

So the question for us is, how do we safely remove/disable OneDrive?

I am using the installed (as in Office 16) version of Onedrive.  I don’t want to be dependant on internet connection to access info,  give MS access to my info, or (the real reason MS pushes online ON, and ON for backup)  be  having to increase cloud storage as data accumulates.

I presume the info in this article doesn’t apply to me.

ON was such a promising program when it was first released, until it was absorbed into Office and the ON dev team dissolved.  So it remains an “ok” note storage app.  Search is mediocre, still can’t move ‘containers’ between pages, can’t print a ‘container’ or ‘selection’ from a page, etc, etc.
