The other thing missing from the new iPad mini is a true depth camera for face ID. I have the last gen iPad mini and love it as an eReader for books and magazines, for web browsing and for basic gaming. Bigger than my iphone and smaller and lighter than a tablet or laptop – a sweet spot for carrying around the house or around the world. However, I have don’t have discernable fingerprints, which means that the touch to unlock feature doesn’t work for me (it also means I have trouble clearing background checks, but that’s another story). I’m constantly entering my six character passcode…it’s so 2016. If they’d included a true depth camera in the latest mini to support face ID I’d snap up a new one even though my current iPad mini is otherwise meeting my needs.

I don’t have discernable fingerprints either. Sometimes it’s a result of age. Mine have essentially been gone for several years, and what’s left is crossed by creases/wrinkles so they no longer work on fingerprint readers. Not ANY of the ten!

Maybe you should research that before questioning it.

However, I have don’t have discernable fingerprints

Also a problem for those of us who regularly play a guitar, banjo, or most other “stringed instruments” where you have to strum the strings and/or press on the frets with your fingers to control the musical tones!
