Last week, AskWoody removed a comment I made about MSFT as being not useful. So let us try this one on for size.

“Microsoft kills off Windows app installation from the web, again”

I personally removed your post because it wasn’t helpful at all to the poster, nor did it add to the conversation.  I prefer a civil forum with helpful discourse.  When someone comes to the forums, they come here for help.

I’m not sure how this post pertains to 23H2 as this security issue isn’t unique to that platform. Attackers will abuse weaknesses where they can.

I posted it there because I could not find a better place to post it. If there is a better place for it and you can tell me where I should post I will be much obliged. Thanks.

But one thing I must submit: MSFT deserves the negative comments it receives. Why should we have to put up with updates that do not work or must, especially with your advice, be delayed? Why have printer problems never been solved? There is a lot to criticize about MSFT, the largest software company in the world.

I have a lifetime subscription to AskWoody and I highly value the advice I receive there, especially since MSFT is so unreliable. Everything they put out shoujld be rigorously tested before being released into the wild and it is not.

Ms Bradley, thank you for your personal attention. I think that you are the most important  component in my Windows system.

They must be delayed because Microsoft has built a robust and slightly out of control ecosystem of devices.  Unlike Apple that runs a closed operating system and doesn’t allow coloring outside of the lines, Microsoft has allowed for a more free and robust system.  Even before when they ran a bigger testing staff I never installed updates right away.

The vast majority of Windows systems go through the patching process just fine.  We focus on the corner cases.

In your specific link, actually Microsoft is being “kind”.  They are trying to stop attackers.

As to printers, fasten your seatbelts as they do plan to “fix” the printer security issues in the coming months.
