    KB5039302 Opened: 2024-07-12

After installing the June 2024 Windows preview update, released June 25, 2024 (KB5039302) and later updates, you might face issues using Windows Update Agent API (WUA) from your script (PowerShell, VBScript, etc.) while searching for Windows updates. Due to this issue, you might get an empty result when querying the properties of IUpdate objects present in the IUpdateCollection and error code 0x8002802B (TYPE_E_ELEMENTNOTFOUND) when calling methods on the object from your script.

Organizations using Windows Automatic Updates are not impacted by this issue. Home users of Windows using Home or Pro editions are unlikely to face this issue as their devices are managed using Windows Automatic Updates that doesn’t run into this issue.

This issue is resolved using Known Issue Rollback (KIR)..

      Windows 10 22H2 Home Version:

On July 7th, I ran Windows Update using WUSHOWHIDE and downloaded/installed: (1) KB890830 Malcious Software Removal Took, (2) KB5039211, (3) the computer force installed KB5039865 but I uninstalled it, (4) the computer also did a forced installed of KB5037587 and I uninstalled it also. I went into the hospital on July 13th and returned home today July 16th. I have had my computer off while I was away and paused updates for 35 days.

When I logged on today, I went to Settings and Windows Update, but Windows Update has disappeared. I restarted, which did no good. I also ran DISM /online /cleanup-image /Restorehealth, but Windows Update still was still gone.

Your post states that the issue is resolved using “Known Issue Rollback (KIR)”. Could you further explain how to resolve this issue?

      Thank you ahead of time.

Are you running (or have used) WUMgr (not wushowhide)? There is a setting in the App to hide (not show) Windows Update in the Settings App.

You are an absolute genius. I have followed your instructions in the past on a variety of issues and 100% of the time it solves the problem!  A week or so ago, I followed your recommendation to run WUMGR instead of WUSHOHIDE. Unfortunately, I only got to install WUMGR on my computer and ended up in the hospital for a few days due to heart issues. Yesterday, after I was released from the hospital, I logged into my computer and Windows Update had disappeared.   I googled and searched for answers with no luck.

However, once again, PKCano comes to the rescue, and voila, problem solved.

Thank you very much for your assistance.
