The fix for the Windows 10 1903 slow down and lag for me was to disable the Meltdown and Spectre patches I used InSpectre.exe and disabled the Spectre patch https://www.grc.com/inspectre.htm …The lag before this was so bad that it almost made the computer unusable even with an SSD. I have an AMD FX 9370 eight-core with 16 gigs of ram.
I am now at pre-Windows 10 1903 speeds and my computer acts as if it has an SSD again.

    These tweaks also help:
Do this in CMD with admin priviledges:

    vssadmin delete shadows /all

    vssadmin resize shadowstorage /for=c: /on=c: /maxsize=unbounded

    Good luck!

This has made a huge difference on 7 computers that had the update

Have to say I haven’t noticed much of a difference following 1903 update, thankfully.

me either. running those vssadmin CMDs made no difference (in terms of performance/speed) on my friend’s PC after updating from Win10 Pro v1809 to v1903 using the ISO/USB install method.

      vssadmin resize shadowstorage /for=c: /on=c: /maxsize=unbounded

This command allows shadow copies to (eventually) use ALL of your C: drive.

I can’t imagine why you’d want to do that.

I use that command as I use VMware and it makes a big difference when using it…it is optional

Does turning off the Spectre and Meltdown patches make a system vulnerable to these?
