The first Tuesday of the month — “A Week” in that inscrutable Microsoft parlance — is almost over on the US west coast. A Week, you may recall, is s

Yes, maybe they took the patches with them on a Microsoft soul searching quest. Meanwhile the click-to-run interface always says there are downloads but says nothing nor shows progress of what it attempts to download and install. Do you think they could fix that for us?

Time for Defcon 2 again I guess. (KB3186497) is the only important item showing in my Windows Update and a quick internet search shows a host of problems with it. The only reason I have .Net is some games/software rely on it.

I guess I will hold off on it.

Well, if they indeed took the patches with them, it brings a whole new meaning to “the land of the free”, doesn’t it? 😀

And still no 32bit-version patch (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3015545/june-27-2017-update-for-outlook-2010-kb3015545) to fix the June13patch for Outlook 2010.

There is a new patch now:
        June 27, 2017, update for Outlook 2010 (KB3015545)

        Notice
This update is superseded by update 4011042. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4011042/july-5-2017-update-for-outlook-2010-kb4011042

Although there has been issued a patch to patch the 3203467 June 13th Security Update Outlook 2010, this old update (3203467, June 13th) still shows up as unchecked on my W7 Home 32bit-machine. Could this be because the fix for it (first faulty 3015545, replaced by 4011042) is only available for manual download? My – uneducated – guess: they will incorporate the 4011042 in the updates this Patch Tuesday, and then the 3203467 will become checked? Like to hear from you experts 🙂 if that could happen?

This happened once before, with the release of Windows 10 ver 1511 (or 1607)

I also got the KB3186497 .NET update for Windows 7 &Windows Server 2008 R2 for X64 in Windows Update but it was unchecked even though it was listed as an important update.  Perhaps Microsoft found there were problems or they anticipated issues?  Going to hold off installing.  What does this .NET do exactly in layman terms?  Thanks

The updates have now been released: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/office_sustained_engineering/2017/07/05/july-2017-non-security-office-update-release/

Note for Office 2013/2016: as always these updates only apply to users running a volume version (MSI) of Office. Most home users are running the Click-to-Run version and don’t receive updates via Microsoft Update.

Microsoft shouldn’t be allowed public holidays. (Or should they call it Office 355?)
