For some reason today when one of my users creates a new email the body text does not wrap. It just runs unlimited to the right on one line as she types. The format is HTML. She is setup to create all new messages in HTML. It also happens even when she is replying to HTML and RTF messages.

Last week I uninstalled Outlook 2003 and installed Office 2007 on her computer. She use to have a basic theme turned on for her new email. When this text wrap thing started to happen she turned off the theme; set it back to no theme. It still happens.

She is setup with a signature that is automatically added to all new and replies. This is the same signature she had from before. I removed it but the problem is still there.

    What should I try next?

As an Outlook 2003 user, there are many things I don’t know about the editor in Outlook 2007… That said, it sounds as though her text is being entered in a

       block. A
block does not wrap automatically, you have to press Enter to get a new line. I'm not sure how that could happen across all different stationery, especially if you have ruled out the signature as a problem. Can you see any formatting options (e.g., her choice of font, etc.) that might seem to contribute?

So far I can see nothing all that different about her Outlook 2007 settings. They look nearly the same as my own. Nothing unusual. My first thought was the signature but disabling that didn’t make any difference.

I don’t know whether this will work in Outlook 2007. I use it in Outlook 2003 to convert

       blocks to regular paragraphs.

If you unzip the .bas module in the attached zip archive, import it into the Outlook Visual Basic Editor, and then open one of her messages, click reply, and run the macro UnPREformat, does it fix the part that doesn't wrap?

      No

blocks in the email’s source code but now that I finally have my hands on one of them, man, oh, man, is there a lot of format crap in there.

The Word-based editor has a heavy hand with proprietary tags… good luck with the rebuild.

Rebuilding the mail profile had no effect and when the user profile had no effect I switched it back to how it was before I started messing with the profiles. Figured it out, though. It really helped that I could stay late and work from here instead of trying to see everything squished via remote access on my laptop from home. Turned out the problem was with the font she was using. She had it set with Times New Roman G1. Because of the long font name I didn’t spot the G1 until I decided last night to change it to something else like Verdana or Arial. Once I changed the font to just Times New Roman (no G1 or G2) the problems went away. Very strange.

As far as the source code goes, the source code for the body of my email using same version of Outlook 2007 is clean and neat so I made the assumption that was the norm when viewing her source code. Last night while working on an antivirus issue on another computer (at the same time; multi-tasking) I checked on that user’s email source code and discovered that her’s was very similar to this user. Which lead me to look at another user’s computer to confirm. In other words, my email source code was the exception, not the rule so I was wasting my time running down that road. Sigh.

So glad my hubby is back to work so I can stay late at night again and fix things from here. Thank you for your help. It absolutely makes a difference being able to bounce ideas back and forth on this forum.

In outlook, click tools, then options, then mail format. There you will need to check the check box that says use MS Office word to edit email messages and that should fix your problem.
