When I copy text into a Word 2007 document (say from an internet page) it does not take up the whole line from left to right margin. The left margins are of course fine, but if I want the text to extend to the right margins I have to go to the end of the line and hit the delete key. This enables the text from the line below to fill up that particular line, but then I have to do it on the next line. And the next….

Obviously there is a better way. Probably something incredibly simple. I just don’t know what it is…

    Any help?

In Word use the Show/Hide button to reveal what is at the end of each line.
When I paste your post into Word I see this:

Some of the lines are OK, but there are two Manual Line Breaks – What you get with Shift + Enter

I can remove the lot by doing a Search and Replace. Go to Search and Replace, hit the More button, then the Special list. Choose Manual Line Break from the Special list and choose to replace each one with either nothing at all, or just a single space.

I am unfamilar with 2007, in 2003 I highlight the text then apply my style. Also you can use Format Painter. The line breaks can be removed by using search replace

Do you get the same results if you use Paste Special, Unformatted Text (as opposed to a regular Paste)? In my tests, text stretches all the way to the right margin — though I’ve done only a few quick tests, not anything extensive.

Home tab, Clipboard group, Paste drop-down, Paste Special… Unformatted Text, OK.

      Let us know.
