Anyone have a way to test email address from exchange? If I have a list of email addresses in word or excel, how can I get outlook to validate the address?

They are housed in Exchange, but you’ve entered them in an Office document? There might be other ways, but I think you’ll have to write some code to read the address, create a mail item, stuff the address into the “TO” object, then use the Resolve method to test the address. Depending on your needs on an error you could display the problem address using msgbox, or you could write to a file.

The are house in a group in exchange. No one seems to know how to get the email address out of the group just the names. So, having the names, I can recreate the email address (first.last@company.com). The problem is that, around 20% of the email address are some variation of first.last (things like middle names, Jr etc…) so I need a way to test my calculated address against the exchange list.

There are around 1500 users in the group. 20% is around 300. so brute force is an option, just not my first choice.

The only problem with code is that I am not overly familiar with the outlook object model, since I have never had a need to delve into it. (Word, Excel, Access no problem)
