    I just got a poorly packaged laptop via UPS and I want to check it to make sure everything works correctly.
    In the old DOS days, there were burn in programs. Are there any similar programs out there today, say to check after you just built your own?

      What make and model? Many manufacturers provided diagnostics tests, for example Dell. I was using their yesterday on a flaky Optiplex.

      Just do a Google search for burn in software and you’ll find plenty of candidates.
