telnet.exe should be in the WINNT/system32 folder. Click Start/Run and type telnet to open the window.

This is how I normally run telnet.

When I run that now the window appears for a second and then bombs out leaving nothing, which isn’t normal.

        Any ideas?

I assume, then, that the same thing happens if you find telnet.exe in Windows Explorer and double-click it.

What happens if you include the telnet address in the command? (for example: telnet 192.168.0.0)

            This appears to work!

Thanks for solving my problem, but how does this work/not work? All very strange!! bow
