I saw a question in an old thread here and wanted to share what I saw yesterday when testing. Since I can’t reply here is the information for those who might benefit from my experience.
If you are going from PC to PC then it is easy to change the resolution; you can go to the advanced settings for each connection (computer name) and specify the resolution you want under Remote Resolution. The mobile app on Android and the Mac program do not have this option as far as I could tell. It is so useful I hope one day they will make it a universal option in all the programs and apps.
As a work around you might change the resolution before logging in if possible. Or you might try changing the resolution after login. I’m not sure it can handle the display changes on the fly so you might have to log out and log back in. I recently discovered a tool called HotKey Resolution Changer that could be used to automate the process.
If possible try testing this when in the same location so you can make sure everything will work properly before having to use it remotely.
