Great YouTube, didn’t know it existed for AskWoody.com.

Never do I save passwords on my PC, and my Credentials look squeaky clean.

      No saved Web Credentials

No saved Windows Credentials or Certificate-based Credentials

4 Generic Credentials for UnityHub, which I’m comfortable with, as Unity is part of my daily routine

Also, one Generic Credential for virtualapp/didlogical, and one for SSO_POP_Device. There doesn’t seem to be much (useful) information about those on the internets. They seem benign, or at least not positively malign, maybe associated with MS Edge, which I never (knowingly) use. Apparently they magically reappear if you delete them

      *Sigh*… I kinda wish I hadn’t looked now…

You wrote “(…..There are lots of tools out there that expose these credentials (a hint – if you ever want to see if your security tools protect you from such things, try to download Nirsoft’s tool and see if your system gets a blocking message)”

If you don’t get a message, then what?  Disregard the question.   I  just watched the video and I now understand.

I checked mine and have one entry under Web Credentials: shows the Website Address url as  05036d749eb (+ 21 more numbers and letters).  Entering the url in web browser produces nothing.

The User Name is another 32 characters of numbers and letters.

Saved by Unknown App (S-1-15-2-4222709562- +about 50 more characters)

The Password is over 100 characters long

      I never save any credentials.

Could this belong to the Windows registration?

What happens if you delete an unknown entry under Web Credentials?

      What if you need it?

      Windows 10 Pro x64 v22H2 and Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64 (RIP)

I started the Nirsoft Tool download.  It was blocked by MS.  Continued with the download and found the expected webpass you mentioned and this one.

      LegacyGeneric:target=SkypeAccountProviderService:InterruptHandler/InterruptHandler Generic InterruptHandler ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????=??????=?/??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? 4/18/2020 16:14:44 Local Machine Very Strong C:\Users\Polecat\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Credentials\075607EDD3E432FF2AE063694C265E61

I had uninstalled Skype quite a while ago.  Yesterday (typing Credential Manager in the search box) I found 6 for Skype and deleted them.

I can’t seem to eliminate this one.   Checking online it seems one cannot fully get rid of Skype leftovers without getting rid of the MS account too.

Any harm leaving this webpass with the other Skype junk that the MS  uninstaller left?

Thanks. This is an area never explored before.

I know it won’t do any harm to delete a credential but before I do there is a curious entry that  web searching doesn’t help solve and a few different types of search of the PC don’t provide clues for me.

My machine has  something similar to I97PiCc33i  sitting under Generic Credentials (persistence =Local Machine). How might I track what is calling it?

‘Something similar’? I am a cautious person.

I disable credential in order to be save on all Windows computers I use. No password are save onto computer. All write down on a small piece paper that is stacked in my fireproof lock box with an anti theft device interacted compound. The backup small piece paper is in a locked security deposit box in an undisclosed location.  Other backup is mind mine so if that goes hopefully the other two will stay.

I do not trust Windows or any other manager from not trying to steal my info. Paper is easier and easy to get rid of if need gone. On wrong key pick and all paper is gone in a flash.
