Taskbar will not auto hide

Win10 Pro, Surface Pro 3 i7; Taskbar will periodically not “hide” even though that is the setting in taskbar properties. Lock taskbar is also set. All updates are current. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks! – Dennis

In XP I have found something in the task bar wants some kind of attention (thanks to somebody here for that info). Most times I maximize then minimize each window and it starts working again. I think the notification maybe involed as well.

This happens to me periodically. If nothing else works a reboot will fix it for me. Yes, this has been happening for a long time and through multiple versions of windows.

I too have this problem. In earlier versions of windows I could make it hide. With windows 10 is stays there. I have disabled all notifications rebooted several times, checked and unchecked the settings… nothing seems to work.

Click on the notifications icon, then clear out all the notifications.

I’ve seen this glitch many times. If somethingX, having been pinned to the taskbar, is active, doing whatever, that somethingX, “being hot,” prevents the taskbar from hiding. There is no known-to-me fix, except to wait it out, or, if that hot item can be “closed window[ed]” – will close that window, sometimes that will free up taskgbar to reHide.
