• Tables with arrows (Powerpoint 2000)

brickwall When I insert a table in a slide, the lines that make up the table have arrows on one end.

Once upon a time I defined the default line with an arrow, but I’ve changed that. I’ve used different templates, but it doesn’t matter. I can’t get rid of the arrows.

After the table is inserted, I can’t change the lines in the table to get rid of the arrows.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I do have an example, but I’m not allowed to post .ppt files. I’ll try it zipped.

Cool! thumbup I never thought of doing that with PPT.
Okay, to figure out how to remove the lines – we have to revisit how you put the lines on. Plus anyone else following this thread will definitely want to try.

          Replacing borders with Arrows
          1. Create a table (not a word table inserted into the document).
          2. Select the table and ungroup it.
          3. Pick any line in the table and format it with an arrowhead in the direction you want.
          4. Make that the default for autoshapes (best done through the autoshape dialog box).

Somehow, PPT recognizes that that line came from a table and so makes it the default line style for all new tables in that file. Any other file will use standard lines. Nifty!

So to remove the arrows as a default table format follow the above directions, but set a line without arrowheads as your default.

          Thanks for a terrific question!

I don’t know how it got that way in the first place, but thanks for figuring this out.
